I have not attended many memorial services, this may have been my 2nd, and it was so touching and spoke to me, yet again, on how fleeting this life is...a vapor! The pastor said something that I want to forever keep in the forefront of my mind. He said,
We are all on the porch of eternity!
He followed it, later, by saying that what we already know, but sometimes need to hear again...We will all leave this world the same way. No one can escape that eternity will come for you!
Those who know Christ will meet our Sovereign God, who will give us the Crown of Life (Rev. 2:10b). He will welcome us with open arms, and only then, will the real glory of our Savior in Heaven be revealed.I am challenged by the above statement, that this life is but a vapor, a mist! What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. James 4:14b I cling to the above verse and pray that my life here on this earth will be a life that glorifies God. A life that can show the love of Jesus to those who so desperately need Him.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were sinners, Christ died for us.
If you want something wonderful to read today, read Psalms 31! It is so powerful! How can we be discouraged, in a world that is so lost, when we read something like this!? I am so thankful that the bible is so applicable still today! Isn't God amazing!
